October 11-12th – KBS Celebrates 25 Years – Watch our WBIR Feature!

We’re excited to share that the Knoxville Bonsai Society was recently featured on WBIR Channel 10 as we prepare to celebrate our 25th Anniversary Annual Fall Bonsai Display!

Knoxville Bonsai Society 25th Anniversary – The Art of Bonsai

Saturday, October 10: 10 AM–4 PM
Sunday, October 11: 9 AM–4 PM

This year’s anniversary show will feature 45 bonsai from regional clubs, along with bonsai, pre-bonsai and pottery vendors, a Saturday silent auction, a free kids activity table, and demonstrations and critique with featured artist Sergio Cuan.

Admission is FREE! Parking at Ijams is $5.

Whether you’re an experienced bonsai enthusiast or have simply wondered what bonsai is all about, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience the art up close and meet members of the bonsai community from across our region.

Come help us celebrate 25 years of bonsai in Knoxville!

Save the Dates this Fall – October 3rd, 10th-11th KBS Bonsai Events!

Fall is here—and October is going to be a big month for the Knoxville Bonsai Society!

KBS Monthly Members Meeting — Saturday, October 3rd

Join us for our October members meeting and final preparation session before the annual show. New and prospective members are always welcome!

Members: bring your own tree if you’d like some help getting it show-ready. Whether you need advice on styling, cleanup, presentation, selecting a pot or stand, or just want another set of eyes on your tree before the Expo, bring it along. This is a great opportunity to work together and put the finishing touches on our fall displays.

Celebrate 25 years of the Knoxville Bonsai Society with us at our Annual Fall Bonsai Display!

This year’s show will feature approximately 45 bonsai from regional clubs, plus vendors offering bonsai, pre-bonsai and pottery. Our featured artist is Sergio Cuan, with a Sunday demonstration and show critique.

Saturday, October 10 — 10 AM–4 PM
Sunday, October 11 — 9 AM–4 PM

The weekend will also include a Silent Auction Saturday from 11 AM–2 PM, a free Kids Activity Table Saturday from 11 AM–3 PM, a Sunday critique from 10 AM–12 PM, and a Sunday demonstration from 1–3 PM with Sergio Cuan.

Admission is FREE. Parking is $5.

Come see some outstanding bonsai, meet artists and enthusiasts from around the region, shop for trees and pottery, and discover what the art of bonsai is all about.

Experienced bonsai artist or completely new to bonsai—everyone is welcome.

KBS Fall Show – Sunday Oct.22nd

Come join Knoxville Bonsai Society’s 23rd annual Fall Display – Sunday October 22nd from 10am – 7pm.

Located at the beautiful Knoxville Botanical Gardens and Arboretum, 2743 Wimpole Ave., in the Dogwood Building Center.

Admission is free – event indoors and family friendly! 40+ local trees on display from across the state and surrounding Southeast cities. We will have guests artists, demonstrations, and vendors selling trees, pots, stands, and accessories.

Saturday August 26th – 10th Annual Asian Arts Festival

10th Annual Knox Asian Festival

Aug 26th, 10:30 AM – 8:00 PM

 Knoxville Asian Festival @ World’s Fair Park

Prepare to experience authentic foods, exciting performances, and traditional activities that represent the Asian cultures of:

 Japan, Indonesia, China, The Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Nepal & Myanmar.

What’s Happening in 2023:

The Asian Cultural Parade will start at 10:30 AM at the Water Fountain on the Festival Lawn and end at 11:30 AM at the Amphitheater stage. During the festival, booths for each country will have Food Vendors, Activities, & Performances. We will also have ongoing performances in the Amphitheater, including FREE Sumo Demonstrations & photo opportunities! 

Knoxville Bonsai Society will be featuring local Members’ trees on full display at the #BONSAI booth during the Asian Festival. Members from across east-Tennessee will be in attendance to answer bonsai questions, show off their trees, with free mid-day DEMONSTRATION of pruning and shaping!

KBS Fall 2022 Show October 15-16

Details for the Knoxville Bonsai Society Fall Show have been released!

Join us October 15-16th, 2022 for the KBS Fall Show. Shannon Salyer will be Guest Artist.

Show place: Dogwood center Bldg at Knoxville Botanical Gardens.

Saturday, Oct 15th

  • Set up from 8 to 10
  • Doors open: 10-6
  • Workshop:  BYOT (2 trees max) from 12-4. Cost $50.
  • Critique: 4:30 – 6

There will be a food truck on Saturday from 11 to 2:30

Sunday Oct 16th

  • Doors open: 9-3
  • Silent Auction: 9-2:30

We have 5 Vendors from neighboring Cities and States with their trees, bonsai pots and stands.

Awards for trees: Best small tree, best medium tree, best large tree, best of show and people’s choice.

Show Times:

Saturday 10am-5pm (Workshop mid-afternoon, full)

Sunday 9am-3pm (Silent Auction 9am-2pm; Demonstration 10:30-12:30)

Beautiful styled bonsai on display from local area artists of all categories. Vendors, silent auction, demonstrations, and judging competition open to the Public Free! Workshop for KBS and local-area club members (contact for details)

Winter Bonsai Display – Feb. 15-16th

 

Join us Saturday and Sunday, February 15th-16th for the 2020 KBS Winter Bonsai Display at the Knoxville Botanical Garden!

Saturday February 15th – 10am to 5pm

Sunday February 16th – 9am to 3pm

Demonstration(s):  Noon to 2pm

Admission is free and open to the public.  We will be hosting a guest Bonsai Artist demonstration, performing a workshop, vendors selling bonsai items and beginner trees, and silent auction!

2020 KBS Meetings and Winter Display

Happy New Year Knoxville Bonsai Society!  The 2020 Event Schedule is updated.

2020 meeting dates coming up, mark your calendars for January 18th and February 1st, from 10am-1pm.  January meeting will be at Shannon’s and February meeting is at Tom’s.  For directions/locations please see KBS emails, or sign up (Contact Us Here!) to get on the mailing list.

Knoxville Bonsai Society will have a 2020 Winter Bonsai Show on Feb 15 & 16. Set-up is on Friday (Feb 14 from 4-6 PM and Saturday, Feb 15 from 8-10 AM)
The show will be held at the beautiful Knoxville Botanical Garden in the Dogwood Center BLDG. The address is 2743 Wimpole Ave. Knoxville, TN 37914
The schedules are:
Feb 14, Friday set-up from 4-6 PM
Feb 15, Saturday Set-up from 8-10 AM. Show starts from 10 to 5 PM.
Feb 16, Sunday, doors open from 9 and show end at 3 PM
The Guest Artist is Arthur Joura. Mr. Joura is the Bonsai Curator at the NC Arboretum in Asheville, NC.
We will have Silent Auction, Vendors, demo and workshop (more details later). Awards will be giving to best trees
We are inviting five other Bonsai Society clubs beside Knoxville club to participate and they are:

KBS Members Meeting August 10th!

Join us this for this month’s KBS meeting Saturday, August 10th from 10am-1pm.

Get your trees ready to display at the upcoming 6th Annual Knoxville Asian Festival!  Bring trees if you need assistance and tips for displaying your trees.  We need members to bring 2-3 trees each (total 25-30 trees).  We will have two vendor tables (Dat and Wes) and one area for demos (Eric and Volunteer).  I also need volunteers to take shifts at the Asian Festival to watch trees and help with set up and take down.

KBS Member polo shirts have arrived!  Bring your payment if you ordered your shirts.  See you Saturday August 10th!
