Wow Summer is really flying by! Welcome to all the new KBS Members for 2026, thanks to everyone who attended our Beginner Workshop and our KBS Silent Auction in June – we are so glad you joined!

July KBS Members Meeting is this Saturday July 11th from 10am-2pm.

Be aware that temp is going to spike up next few days in 95F so water your tree accordingly.  Take care any re-potted trees back in the spring. Don’t let the roots dry out.  Put wet towel over the pot or put in the shade. Water twice a day if needed.

Asian Festival – August 30th at downtown World Fair site. I will send out separate email.

Knoxville Bonsai Society presents its annual Fall Display on Oct 11th and 12th

Ijams Nature Center – 2915 Island Home Ave. Knoxville, TN 37921

Come experience the world of Bonsai and see beautiful trees styled by local artists, silent auction, vendors selling beginner trees and pots, workshops and demonstrations, and joined by participating clubs from around the southeast: Nashville, Chattanooga, Johnson City (MABK), Asheville, NC (Blue Ridge), Central Kentucky 

The schedules are as follow:

Oct 11th – Saturday – Show is from 10 to 4

Silent Auction is from 11 to 2. Workshop from 11 to 3.

Oct 12th – Sunday – Show is from 9 to 4

Show Critique is from 10 to 12 and it will be by Neil Dellinger out of Indiana. 

This Year’s Awards are:

1 – Best Novice

2 – Best Shohin

3 – Best conifer

4 – Best deciduous

5 – Best Tropical

6 – Best of Show

7 – People’s Choice Award

We all had a great time yesterday at Mark Issenberg’s nursery. He showed us his trees/plants and did a demo for us. Thank you Mark!

Soooooo hot. I made another shade cloth’s stand. The heat is killing the leaves.

Join KBS at the 5th Annual Knox Asian Festival.  We will have 20-30 trees on display in the center of Knoxville’s beautiful Market Square.
